Dear Reader,
It's almost Election Day. We cannot elect McCain for President, thus rewarding his party for the deliberate perpetration of an unjustifiable, unnecessary war, the lies, the assaults on civil rights here and elsewhere, and the criminal ineptitude and Big Oil rapaciousness of the Bush Administration, any more than the nation could reelect Herbert Hoover in 1932
That the polls seem to indicate a close election boggles the mind. But let us all get out and vote for Barack Obama and other worthwhile Democratic candidates.
If we fail, we might as well rename our Big Banana Republic "Paraguay North" and be done with it

Dear Online Reader,
I spent a lot of time on line (and not online) Tuesday, so did a lot of other people. While waiting on that line, I kept imagining we were all waiting to embark on a ship taking us away from an island we've been stranded on for the last eight years.
Now that our ship has come in everyone is telling us of the hazards ahead: Icebergs, Storms, Sea Monsters --Oh My. And it's all true. But that ship of my imagination has been a long time coming, and been through many hazards. It will make it through many more. As we board that metaphorical ship, let us pause a moment and look at its name. The ship is called "Hope." Welcome aboard!
