SHOW TIME

Good lookin' brother
gets on F train and starts singing
sounds pro
singing I Did It My Way
into the improvised mike of his fist
good show
should I give him a buck
if he did it his way
what's he doing on the freakin' F train
singing into his fist
it's a worn out rush hour crowd
and they've heard it all before
half immigrants
half with a green card
half without a clue
half with eyes half closed
half too tired to care
if he did it or is doing it or will do it
his way her way my way their way
some just wishing he'd go away
and sing his way out of his fist
someplace else
where fists can be used for microphones
maybe some shower in a homeless shelter
for hard up broke subway singers
of funky blues and Frank Sinatra specials
damn if ol' blue eyes could only catch this show
they could do a great duet between stops
a show stopper
