Thank You, You're Welcome struggling to open my umbrella I didn't hear a woman repeat what I saw in her coal burning eyes as she shoves past me, in NY you always keep moving and feel like I'm on one of those moving walkways at the airport as we head to the restaurant past a long line-up of people pushing to get into Macy's, does anyone ever say excuse me anymore anyone from past thanksgiving years hurrying its dead thru as we sit down to eat and the man I am with begins talking of retirement starts making plans for when.... and after and I begin attacking a plate piled high with stuffed turkey candied yams cranberry sauce he's talking about maybe this June or next I'm thinking about ordering some pumpkin pie he says, maybe I'll start a blog, my late lover makes a quick comeback on his computer the waiter asks if we want anything else, he shakes his head and hands him a credit card I hold up my cup for a refill my parents' ghostly voices fill with unsolved quarrels.... have an urge to say, you're not excused to someone anyone and keep moving ------------------------------ Linda Lerner | ||
